Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses – MLP U.S.A. and MLP UK – recently hosted highly successful open house events to showcase the latest advancements in Mitsubishi’s lineup of DIAMOND Series sheet-fed presses. The two separate events drew a cross-section of commercial and packaging printers to hands-on demonstrations of the DIAMOND 3000TP Tandem Perfector and DIAMOND 3000LX wide stock range presses installed in showrooms at both MLP branches, and of a DIAMOND 1000LS available in the Leeds-based MLP UK showroom.
Unveiled for the first time at both events was a Mabeg RS 104 inline reel sheeter used in combination with the Tandem Perfector. Engineered specifically for use with Mitsubishi’s DIAMOND Series presses, the reel sheeter facilitates nonstop operations, and changeover from reel to sheets is but a ten-minute operation. Inline conversion from reel to sheet provides a number of advantages, such as savings on paper costs – as much as a 30-percent savings with rolls versus sheets, less paper waste and easier storage of paper rolls.
In addition to saving printers a substantial amount of money in paper-related expenditures, inline roll-to-sheet printing also significantly raises overall productivity levels. And when used in combination with Mitsubishi’s unique one-pass dedicated perfector – the DIAMOND 3000TP – the levels of production and cost efficiency are unparalleled.

The Mabeg Model RS 104 inline roll sheeter boasts a high-speed scissor cutting system capable of running 18,000 sheets per hour. Other RS 104 features include flexibility in cutting sheets exactly to the desired length and size of the product before they are fed into the press to virtually eliminate trim waste of substrates. For printing on foils, plastics and metallic-coated papers, corona-charging equipment is available to provide improved ink bonding.
