DIAMOND 16MAX-V

DIAMOND 3000TP
For three days, beginning August 3rd, Mitsubishi conducted a private exhibition at the company's Itozaki Plant in Mihara, Japan. The event, named "MITSUBISHI drupa tech '05," drew more than 800 visitors from printing houses and media throughout Japan, providing each with a first-hand look at Mitsubishi's upand-coming printing machinery.

The stars of this well-attended exhibition were the DIAMOND 16MAX-V press with variable cut-off and the DIAMOND 3000TP Tandem Perfector with in-line aqueous coating for both sides of the sheet. Both presses were first introduced at drupa 2004 as concept models, and plant visitors had the opportunity to witness improvements made toward commercial applications of the presses and to gain a better understanding of the direction ahead for Mitsubishi presses in terms of high productivity and value-added printing.

The DIAMOND 16MAX-V is an extraordinary press that accommodates different web cut-off sizes. Unlike the drupa concept press, the private show production model featured four printing units, dryer and afterburner, chill roll stand, and chopper folder. Demonstrations were conducted on two types of commercial runs, and visitors were clearly surprised at the quick 13-minute job makeready time involved, which included a web change, eight plate and blanket sleeve changes, folder changeover and color adjustments. Customer praises abounded on the early realization of this technology and on Mitsubishi's technical capabilities in general.

Sheet-fed offset press demonstrations were conducted on two differently configured DIAMOND 3000TP Tandem Perfectors. Included here was the drupa four-over-four model equipped with two tower coaters to handle printing and aqueous coating on both sides of the sheet in one pass. Job changeovers were conducted using the simultaneous plate changing system. The second Tandem Perfector, a four-over-four model, ran Hybrite ink - a special UV-based inkhighlighting the merits of powder-less, gutter-less and jacket-less printing operations.
Visitors to these demonstrations were quick to comment on the excellent printing quality that the presses delivered and on Mitsubishi's ability to properly perceive future needs.

Following the factory tour, visitors attended Q&A sessions. Questions at these very lively sessions focused primarily on productivity and print product quality and revealed a very keen interest by visitors in Mitsubishi printing machinery.
Under the theme of "Contributions for your success," Mitsubishi will continue to gain customers' trust through excellent products and technologies that contribute to successful business life.
